DNA Probe

DNA Probe

Individuals, how are we made? Through a single cell that penetrates into another cell is the manner we are made of. From our parent cells, genes are synthesis, creating a brand new individual. The DNA is the mere reason of how we look like, what traits we possess with, and whenever we possess an inherited disease, this is the main reason we carry it. What most concerns us is the disease we carry along with us as we grow and mature. We might not understand how we can acquire a disease in which we have not pro actively have done anything for it to come into our system. This is the sad thing about procreation. In procreation, we are created and we inherit the traits of our parents, including their disease. DNA is the basic unit of a cell. It is the most basic structure of us that we can’t accessibly take a look in it. It is the one that compromises us, and to actually know how we are structured, scientists would check on our basic structure, which is the DNA. The DNA maybe invisible to the bare eyes, but it plays a great role in our system, especially our health. We can trace why we suffer a specific medical condition through observing our DNA.

With the evolution of medical technology, we are able to identify medical conditions that an individual may have possessed. This is made possible with the use of a DNA probe. A DNA probe is a radioactive or chemiluminescent DNA or RNA sequence. DNA probes are used to detect and identify the presence of any infectious disease agents in our body. DNA probe is an agent inserted into a medium to be able to gain information about a structure or substance. With a DNA probe we may visualize the structure of our DNA, can find out any abnormalities we possess within us. This is very helpful in identifying disease conditions. DNA probe is radioactively labelled or marked and is used to identify another substance sample. We take a look at our DNA structure to see what is wrong within us. DNA probes have been very helpful to the medical field. DNA probe has been used to identify the presence of abnormal DNA sequence or an invasion or change of DNA structures brought about by infectious agents.

Through the DNA probes we are able to identify different kind of medical conditions that involves our DNA pattern. A DNA probe is much of help if we try to identify any underlying inherited genes of a medical condition such as cancer, hyperthyroidism, cretinism and any other debilitating disease condition. Some psychological abnormalities may also be genetically inherited to offspring. Some parents would want to have genetic counselling before they engaged in procreation. They would want to identify the possible genetic abnormalities that they may pass on to their offspring. DNA probe is useful in this matter. Through a DNA probe we can detect the abnormal substance or identify the structure of the parent’s genes. This is helpful in preventing to conceive a defective or abnormal child in the future, in which parents must decide to whether or not to conceive. On the other hand, a virus is an infectious agent that reproduces inside its host cells, is made of a genetic material, DNA or RNA. DNA probe is the agent that can detect the presence of this material inside a host. Other infectious agents may be identified through a DNA probe. Through the use of a DNA probe, it is possible to detect future medical conditions.
